Wildlife Support Station

Use: Temporary storage for oiled birds or other wildlife in a climate controlled atmosphere. Small to medium sized birds can be stored or transported in cages set on shelves. Large birds can be stored in open-topped plywood pens. Trailer can be used to transport wildlife from a spill site to the rehabilitation station, or as a place where wildlife can be held until their body conditions become stable. The trailer is usually used in conjunction with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Trailer.

Description: A 28’ x 8’ cargo trailer with heating, air conditioning, and forced air ventilation. Cupboards and file drawers, a sink, water heater, brown water tank, and refrigerator are located at the front of the trailer. Heat lamps, heating pads, sheets and towels are stored in the cabinets. The swing down rear door allows tray racks and the pen cart to be rolled in or out easily. The interior is coated and can be washed down for easy cleaning. All electric outlets are ground-fault protected.

The trailer has three (3) wheel-mounted racks, each containing three 6’ x 24” shelves. A total of 36 removable cages, ranging from small to extra large sizes, are secured to the shelves with elastic cords. Heat lamps can be mounted in front of the cages.

For long-term storage the racks can be rolled out and the six 4’ x 4’ x 4’ prefabricated plywood pens assembled to provide birds with room to move about.

Bird rehabilitation must be performed under the supervision of licensed personnel.
