Shallow Water Skimmer (Marco) Type: Shallow Water Skimmer Primary Use: Nearshore/Inland Click here to see additional photos. Use: Inland or nearshore skimming in a stationary or advancing mode. Recovery of oil slicks herded or advancing to the skimmer. Combustible Grade D & E hydrocarbon spills. Description: These self-propelled boats have Marco belt skimming systems. The boats are equipped with water spray bars to herd oil into the fiber belt. A boom may also be attached and the skimmer towed to increase the swath path. The skimmers are trailer mounted and need an over-width (10 ft) permit.
