Fast Response Portable Skimmer

CGA boasts a number of different equipment types. These include self-contained Fast Response Portable Skimmer Units (FRUs), Fast Response Vessels (FRVs), boom, and Shallow Water Skimmers (SWS). Our signature piece of equipment is the state-of-the-art HOSS (High-Volume Open Sea Skimmer) Barge, which was uniquely designed for offshore spill containment and recovery, has a 4100-barrel storage capacity, and is located in New Orleans along the Harvey Canal.

mobile wildlife support

CGA also plays an exceedingly large role in wildlife rehabilitation. CGA maintains the largest cache of mobile wildlife support equipment in the Gulf of Mexico and is specifically designed to be transported to areas of impacted wildlife in order to accommodate wildlife rehabilitation experts in their efforts to provide the necessary rehabilitation during a spill. Personnel are also provided to set up and operate the equipment or to assist wildlife experts on an as-needed basis.

oil spill response

CGA maintains contracts with multiple companies who assist CGA with providing the essential spill response capabilities for our membership. On January 1, 2013, CGA entered into an agreement with Clean Gulf Associates Services (CGAS), an affiliate of T&T Marine of Galveston, Texas.  T&T Marine is one of the premier salvage companies in the world with expertise in marine firefighting, oil spill response, commercial diving, and ROV operations. Under the terms of the alliance, CGA owns its oil spill response equipment and CGAS will store, maintain, and operate the equipment and provide response personnel. The contract is designed to allow CGA members to have direct access to CGA's large cache of equipment with trained personnel.  The CGA/CGAS dedicated personnel also provide training to other oil spill response organizations in order to maintain a highly responsive and capable surge workforce. The synergies between CGA, CGAS and T&T Marine will undoubtedly benefit the exploration & production industry as a result of the additional available capability.

Koseq rigid sweeping arms

CGA also has an additional agreement with T&T Marine of Galveston, TX to provide another special service to its member companies. Through this contract, CGA is able to provide timely and reliable oil spill response capability for potentially large oil spills by means of high volume mechanical recovery equipment. By providing access to 11 sets of Koseq rigid sweeping arms and 2 Aqua Guard skimmers, this equipment has an effective daily recovery capacity of 241,000 barrels/day. These assets are deployed on large service vessels that work in the Gulf of Mexico on a daily basis and are readily available.

Check out the T&T Marine Brochure for more information.

Airborne Support Incorporated

Another key aspect of CGA’s response arsenal to mitigate the effects of oil spills is through the use of dispersants. Through an agreement with Airborne Support Incorporated (ASI), based in Houma, LA, CGA has access to more than 60,000 gallons of dispersant in the Gulf of Mexico area with cooperative agreements for approximately 30,000 more gallons of dispersant. With the assistance of ASI, CGA is able to maintain timely and reliable airborne delivery for its members by means of a modern turbo prop BT-67 and two radial piston DC 3 aircraft as well as one spotter aircraft. CGA also provides dispersant delivery for targeted surface delivery from four FRVs (Fast Response Vessels).

CGA works closely with its member companies, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement to ensure that the organization readily adapts to meet the needs of the industry, the government and the expectations of the general public.
